So, you've spent hours and hours setting up your website or blog. You have your products displayed proudly and you have monetized your blog every way you know how. You are ready to make a fortune. In the early days of the internet, you could expect your site to be found quickly with very little effort on your part. As the internet has evolved, it now takes longer and more work to get your site noticed by Google and other search engines. I have found there are 3 main ingredients that you will need to be successful and get your website or blog noticed.

First, the internet grows and changes constantly. What may have worked great a few months ago, may be completely ineffective now. Just like everything else, you can read all the "literature" out there, but the reality is often much different than theory. You need someone with experience and success themselves to show you the way. I'm not talking about some "guru" necessarily but someone that you can study, emulate or, in a perfect world, talk to directly. Learn from the successes and failures of someone who has been around a while and knows This can save you time, money and heartache.

Online success does not come quickly, no matter what the "gurus" say in their hyped-up advertising. It can take many years to become an overnight success. Having the right tools is critical. Some of the most important tools you need for internet marketing include programs that help you find profitable keywords and how much competition each keyword has. There are excellent tools to help with search engine optimization, article writing and promoting and many others. I have found, however, that the tools I use the most are those that can automate any of the processes that I use for marketing. It is easy to spend hours submitting articles to directories, for example, but there are programs now that can do this for you on autopilot, which leaves you more time for other matters.

Finally, you can have the best website in the world, but if no one visits it, you have nothing. Generating traffic to your website is critical. Search engine optimization helps, but can take time. It's important to find other ways to draw traffic to your site. There are traffic exchanges and safelists that have free and paid options. Advertising in online classified can be helpful too. Right now, one of the best ways to create traffic is by using social bookmarking sites and social sites such as Digg, Facebook, Myspace and others like that. Building traffic takes time, effort and patience, and experimentation, but it is truly the factor that is most critical to drawing visitors to your site, because they are your potential customers!

There are, of course, many other important factors in making money online, but it really comes down to these three basic items, in my opinion and experience. Being successful in any business takes time, study and patience and internet marketing is no exception. By focusing on these three factors, however, can help you to finally realize your dreams of internet success.
