The field of internet marketing continues to expand on a daily basis. As a result, con artists have made their way online and are posing as legitimate internet marketers. It is very difficult to determine the difference between an honest internet marketer and a con artist who is lurking online. It is sad to admit but sometimes there is only a slight difference between some internet gurus and a con artist.

When you visit the website from a con artist, it might look very professional or it could look very plain. The con artist who is willing to take the time might add some photos on his website showing expensive mansions, yachts and vehicles. He knows that these photos will grab the attention of the visitor to his site. This is a psychological trigger used by a number of dishonest con artists. It is meant to elicit an emotional response from the prospective buyer and subconsciously push the consumer into making a purchase.

You need to use caution and should not determine the validity of a website just by looking at the web page or sales letter. The site has to be examined closely and the alleged internet guru needs to be researched in order to ascertain his or her past track record.

If you make the mistake of giving your credit card number and expiration date to one of these unscrupulous con artists, they can get unlimited access to your money and you could potentially lose a lot of cash. Before you purchase any product from the internet, you need to do your homework.

An internet con artist will use any tactic in order to convince you into giving up your credit card number. It is very easy for them to put attractive graphics and photos on their sites in order to lure you into making a purchase. Some of these sneaky con artists will even post a phony money back guarantee on their site. This guarantee does not mean anything to them. It is just another trick that they will utilize.

Have you gone to a website where there are several testimonials posted? If you check the URL(website address) on some of these, you might find out that they don't go to a valid website. A written testimonial is very easy to make up. Thus, you need to be careful when you are reading and believing them. The best testimonial is one done by video. Sometimes a con artist might post a fake screen shot of alleged earnings or the picture of a fictitious check on his site. Please realize that these can be altered. If you are good with Photoshop or Fireworks, you can change almost anything. There is no way to prove the legitimacy of these screen shots or checks.

Stop! Do your homework, and use caution before you make any online purchase. There are a number of very reputable internet marketing gurus online but you need to do your research ahead of time so that you don't become a victim.
