I once heard the great Jim Rohn say that he used to work full time on his job, but part time on his fortune. This incredible nugget of truth impacted my entire outlook on life. On a personal note, my regular full time job is that of an attorney working for a private law firm at a respectable salary. However, the fact of the matter is that a person gets paid on a linear basis by working a regular job for his employer. If he stops working, he stops getting paid. That's the bottom line. Consequently, most people lead lives of quiet desperation, going through the motions of the rat race with little hope of earning a fortune. "Profits are better than wages," Mr. Rohn taught. In other words, while working for an employer is noble and good in that it can provide a stable and solid living for one's family, fortunes are made through the powerful concept of leverage. It's one thing to make a living. It's quite another to make a fortune. Instead of earning 100% on one's own efforts, a person can earn a fortune by earning just one percent of the efforts of 100 people. The former is an example of linear pay; the latter is an example of leverage. The key is to work smart, not hard. A perfect example is the relationship between a real estate broker and his real estate agents. The broker has agents working under him in the field. Each agent's full time job is to sell houses. The agents perform much of the hard labor, while the broker earns a small percentage of each agent's efforts. The ultimate result is that the successful broker earns much more than the agent can ever hope to earn. This concept is utilized in the network marketing industry. Dedicated, persistent marketers who never lose sight of their goals can leverage the efforts of their sales organizations to yield unlimited financial wealth. This powerful leverage yields unparalleled success that regular, nine-to-five jobs can never make possible. The key is to select a rock-solid company - one that is not here today, gone tomorrow. Most startup companies go belly-up within the first five years of operation. Next, the product or service must not be a "me too" concept. In other words, you don't want a company that markets products or services that are easily copied by other competitors. It would be tragic if you discovered that your company's product was suddenly being sold by WalMart at a much cheaper price. Finally, you want a company that will compensate you while utilizing the powerful concept of leverage. Network marketing is All-American because it gives regular, everyday people, regardless of their age, education, sex, religion, race, or background, an opportunity to realize the American dream. Even Donald Trump once said, "Network marketing has proven itself to be a viable and rewarding source of income, and the challenges could be just right for you. There have been some remarkable examples of success, and those successes have been earned through diligence, enthusiasm and the right product combined with timing. As with so many issues, there are tangibles and intangibles involved, but success is not a total mystery, and that applies to network marketing, as well." Not only that, but involvement in network marketing surrounds you with positive and optimistic people who are driven to achieve success regardless of what their family, friends, and neighbors may say. Would you rather surround yourself with negative or positive people? The five people with whom you spend most of your time have the most influence on your outlook on life. Are you surrounding yourself with positive people? For employees who are involved with a network marketing venture in their spare time, they can now confidently tell people that they are working full time on their jobs, but part time on their fortunes.
